A 1971 Mercedes 309 D, looks fun with the front doors open.
Will need a little work if we get it, but nothing stopping us from loading it up and heading out on the road. If we buy it. Which, if it gets through "besiktning" and registration, we will.
August 06: First trip in the Mercedes, took a bus up to Jonkoping and drove the truck home, 240km. Strange driving something so big. Passed the "besiktning" with no comments and is now registered as a "personbil klass II", so even I can legally drive it.
Nearly in its new home, have to move the Thomson Glenn before parking the Mercedes in the drive.
August 7: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: Perfect weather to be out, just too many people to try and photograph the cars.
Always good to see new Saab's at the meetings.
And as always, one sticks out from the rest, a very nicely turned out Fiat Bartha. You can find more of the images I took here.
August 9: Bialitt: Weather was perfect, a lot of interesting people, and old faithful was in good company, as always.
Sports exhaust, alloys, decals, good to see more Saab's looking like that.
And the car of the meeting, Miss Piggy, of course. Couldn't think of a better Saab to own, especially the way this one is tuned and fitted out. You can find more of the images I took here.
August 11: Saab Skånias sommarträff: Perfect weather to be out, not too much sun and a decent temperature.
With people arriving at the start of the run it was interesting to see the different models parking together.
It is always fun when a car you haven't seen before turns up, Mats' 95 pickup is good.
The organizers picked a perfect spot to have a stop for coffee. It's fun parking with all the other cars and getting to talk to everyone.
Talk about timing, driving back from the meeting the sky opened and a lot of rain came down. By the time we got home, about 25km west of the finish, our front yard was under 10cm water, we got soaked running from the car into the house. You can find more of the images I took here.
August 12: Forsasöndan, Ysby: A bit overcast but perfect for standing around looking at the cars. There was 7 96's and one 95, but what was surprising was they were all different colours.
Green was missing, but this was more than compensated by Kermit, always a lot of interest in him.
The other Sonett at the meeting had a very interesting bonnet.
Once parked at the site it was fun to see all the 96/95 bonnets in a row.
I can't even keep the outside of my car this clean. Nice!
The reason for the event, the annual opening of the slues gates to keep the level of the lake in check.
Impressive once the gates were fully opened.
August 15: Bilprøvning Landskrona: Not the perfect weather for a trip in the 96 and Thomson Glenn, but the caravan needed to go in for its roadworthy.
It neither passed or failed. During the renovation I removed the gas installation, not allowed to do that unless it gets re-registered. So, gas installation goes back in again, next week.
August 21: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: Not the best weather when I left home, but it was very pleasent once I got there.
Dan showed the Jaguar club that you don't need a Jag to be part of the party.
Six Saab's turned up, this was the one that drew the most attention, nice!. You can find more of the images I took here.
August 23: Bilprøvning Landskrona: Weather was a little better than last week, and the caravan was booked in for 14:00.
It passed with a clean bill of health, two more years of life for the 41 year old caravan, not bad going.
August 28: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: The weather in the morning was amazing, just stopped in the driveway when the hail came, had to sit there for a while.
In the afternoon the weather improved but I got to the meeting just as the airshow ended and the rain came down, still, when I walked around the car park there were 8 Saabs. One V4.
Three Sonett's.
And four two-strokes.
And as always, one car that stood out, now that's a PV I wouldn't mind playing around with.
Even the weather at the end of the evening was dramatic. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 04: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: Can't complain about the weather this time, other than it is starting to get a little chilly in the evenings.
Good to see Dan there in his Sonett, nice history behind that one, he got it in boxes.
Think you call this "piggy in the middle".
Difficult to find one car that stood out, there was a lot of interest in this miniture, amazing craftmanship.
And "Beauty & the Beast" was an interesting sight as well. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 09: Gula Träffen: Wonderful weather and an even better day out with the car.
Old faithful was there with the new roof rack fitted. Not looking too bad.
Perfect day to just sit around, drink coffee, talk about nothing, and look at the cars.
The setting is fantastic.
And as per normal, some very nicely turned out cars.
And one you want to take home, now that's what I call a practical solution. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 11: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: Weather was good so I took along the Combi-Camp for the trip, no problems towing it behind the 96, you sometimes forgot that it was there.
Only one other Saab turned up and the carpark was full.
Dan's DKW is looking good.
And the show stopper this time was a Morgan Aero, unbelievable. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 13: Bialitt: Weather was good and a lot of diverse Saab's to look at, old faithful was there.
Sten-Arvid brought along Sonny Blue, what a car.
And for those who thought there were only two alloys available, here's a close up of the JP rims on Sonny Blue.
A very nice baby blue Sonett V4, never seen one in that colour before.
Ulf attracked a lot of attention with his new toy, radio controlled Saab, will be fun to see it once it is complete.
Some very nice 900's, wouldn't mind either of them in my driveway. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 23: Saab Skånia Årsmöte: Surprisingly good weather, perfect for a drive to the annual meeting.
A number of Saab's turned up.
but it was the location that stole the show. You can find more of the images I took here.
September 25: Tisdagsträffarna på Vikingatider i Löddeköpinge: Weather was bad all day, then it cleared just before the meeting.
First time I have seen a 3-cylinder diesel engine in a Saab boby, nice.
And if you want an engine thats easy to work on, no problems getting around this one.
Some nice VW's turned up, still wishing for one. You can find more of the images I took here.
October 5: Dry run for the Scatter Rally test. All went well and the weather was perfect. Too tempting to miss a coffee stop at Cafe Bialitt.
After coffee I went in search of more places to add to the Scatter Rally task list. A lot to chose from in this region.
After playing with the Scatter Rally I headed down to Bengt to lend moral support while he was working on the 95, looks really good with the Football rims.
October 7: While at Cafe Bialitt I picked up a information brochure on the region and found some interested windmills, as the weather was so good I couldn't resist going out looking for them.
Fantastic roads in the Skåne region for just driving around aimlessly on.
Autumn is definitely here, but still time for a few more road trips before the year is over.
October 14: Perfect day for a drive, so off we went looking for more places for the Scatter Rally and coffee.
October 18: Another day for driving, this time to do a dry run of the upcoming Scatter Rally.
Beisdes all the scheduled stops I found some new things to add to the list, not many of these signs around.
And another wind mill, I have been looking for this one for nearly a year, considering the size of the things it makes you wonder how I couldn't find it.
And I had to test the coffee at the finish point, with some apple pie and cream.
October 21: Back at the finish line, this time for the Scatter Rally.
Five cars completed the course and they all enjoyed it, just want to know where and when the next one will be. So, now to plan the next trip out in the car and create a new rally.
October 24: Off on another drive about looking for places for the next Scatter Rally, this time I found some trees, cute little things.
October 30: It has been difficult updating the out and about, a lot of the photos I have been taking show the places for the Scatter Ralles, but there are a few interesting ones, this is of a sculpture outside a private house.
November 04: Off on another trip to find places for the Scatter Rally, this time a large metal giraf.
And my favorite, windmills, there are so many of them around, and so well restored.
Found a really nice antique shop that had created an old style petrol station beside their shop.
November 18: At the finish point for the Scatter Rally.
November 24: No rest for the wicked, out again looking for more places for the next Scatter Rally. A well maintained storage building.
December 15: Setting up these Scatter Rallies is a lot of fun, good excuse to get out and about in the car.
Wonder if this club is still registered and meeting.
December 23: Still out looking for places for the Bjuv Scatter Rally. This is a privately owned/restored underground storage building, amazing inside.
Some buildings are just too interesting to pass by. Not sure what this is used for but unfortunately outside of the target area.
December 30: One last trip out before the end of the year, a good one as far as driving the old car goes.
