SAAB 96 V4 - 1971

February 2007: Got hold of a Luisi steering wheel and hub, looks good when fitted to the car.

March 2007: Tried to fit the roof rack from the 900, not a good fit, will need to look for a more age appropriate one.

April 2007: Tried fixing the rust on the drivers door but it is bad, either new plates need welded on or another set of doors. Tidied it up a little and fitted the decor strip and Saab emblem, now I can photograph the car from the drivers side.

While getting the Saab 900s ABS tested I managed to borrow a center bearing tool for the rear axle of the 96, helps having the right tools, but still a heavy job getting the old bearing out and the new one in. Thankfully I had the 1m bar to get the leverage. Now I can rebuild the rear axle assembly.

June 2007: Tried again with the rust on the doors, this time it is a little better, but...

Also changed the dekals on the car, must find more so that it covers up the paintwork.

Set of two sport/rally seats arrived today. Think I will have to wait a little while before trying to fit them. Maybe next week.

July 2007: Got a new roof rack for the car. Lots of pieces this time, but no problem to give it a little cleaning and put it together.

Fits perfectly after a little adjustment, blends in with the colour as well.

Dashboard cleaned up well and new decals helped bring it back to life again.

A few more decals on the car, this time printed at home and then clear lacquered.

A few decals removed and new ones on the door. Don't think I will add any more for a while.

September 2007: Finished renovating one of the new roof racks and the final results is good.

It fits well on the car, think I will keep it on for a while, at least until the next one is renovated.

October 2007: Saw an interesting earth connector on Bengt's 95, perfect when working on the car, just turn it a few turns, and the earth is disconnected, no need for spanners.

December 2007: Not much done lately other than the winter tires where fitted, the 60's rims do look much better than the newer ones.
